Education for All

Tutoring, mentoring, and educational support for underprivileged students.

Education remains central to YSS’s mission of building national unity through volunteerism. Under the Education for All pillar, student volunteers deliver direct tutoring, mentoring, and academic support to underprivileged and rural communities — closing the gap for learners who don’t have easy access to extra help outside the classroom.

The flagship initiative under this pillar is the YSS Tuition Mission series, run in partnership with universities, state education departments, and community organisations. In December 2024, YSS collaborated with Universiti Malaysia Sabah, the Federal Territories Department, and the Federal Territory Education Department of Labuan to run a three-day SPM workshop that brought together 1,146 SPM candidates and 120 subject teachers from 12 secondary schools in Labuan, covering Bahasa Melayu, English, Science, Mathematics, Malaysian History, and Islamic Studies. Related initiatives such as Iqra TH Plus – KAMI Tuition extend the same model to primary and secondary learners in other regions.

This work is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Malaysia’s Education Blueprint, and reflects YSS’s belief that lifelong education — delivered by passionate student volunteers rather than paid tutors — is one of the most direct ways to bridge socioeconomic gaps for rural, sub-urban, and underprivileged communities.
